Good Times
I seem to worry at the very beginning of summer about keeping the kids busy without over enrolling in sports camps, summer homework and swimming lessons. As the kids get older, I am realizing that each summer home with the kids (and Nate) is precious and I hope we are making the most of it.
One of our summer highlights was a late-night emergency room visit for Jared. We've had a horrible mosquito problem which led to spotted, itchy kids and one large infected bite. This bite had a red line extending up the leg and was very swollen. The ER docs gave him massive amounts of antibiotics and reassured us that he definitely needed to be seen RIGHT AWAY. Phew! We're glad that he was properly cared for and that now the mosquitos seem to be under control.
Megan had her first piano recital at an assisted living home. She was soooo nervous but did an excellent job!
Megan also had a fun birthday party--turning eight years old and having fun at the movies with her friends. They saw the movie "Up" and then came back to our house to play.
Father's Day is always a treat to fix dad breakfast in bed and try to make him feel special for the day. We love dad! He works hard for us and has taken the kids to do lots of fun stuff this summer.
Summer nights are fun at the Dust Devil baseball games. Jordan and Megan enjoyed Dusty the mascot and the kids like to participate in the between-inning activities and of course fireworks after the game.
This is Amanda and cousin, Kayleigh, enjoying the Spirit Lake 4th of July parade. We went to Spirit Lake to spend the holiday with family there and had a blast. It was a picturesque small-town 4th of July with the kids getting in on the parade (see below), throwing candy, a fireworks show right on the town baseball field, four-wheeling, water skiing and swimming on the beautiful lake. Of course we forgot our camera so the few snapshots Amanda took will have to do.
The kids on the Spirit Lake (Silver Beach Resort) parade float. Below: A pretty good Mystery Machine Replica.
Thanks Nannee and Papa and Fuhr family--we're looking forward to coming up again before summer is over!
